Equestrian Program Volunteer OpportunitiesVolunteers are essential to Midnight Farm's on-going success. Without volunteers, we would not be able to serve our special riders. Midnight Farm is currently seeking side walkers and horse leaders to help with our therapeutic riding classes. Various time slots are available including mornings, afternoons, evenings Monday - Thursday and Saturday mornings and afternoons!
Sidewalker: A sidewalker walks alongside the rider in class, assisting the rider as needed with physical support, as well as helping complete activities and participate in games. Sidewalkers also assist in putting the helmet on and getting to and from the horse safely. No previous horse experience is necessary to be a sidewalker. Leader: A leader grooms, tacks and warms the horse up for class. They also lead the horse in class and control it to the extent the rider is not able to. Leaders also untack and groom the horse after class. Previous horse experience and additional Midnight Farm training is required to be a leader. **Please Note** To be a Leader or Sidewalker, you must be at least 14 years old and able to walk at a moderate pace over slightly uneven, sandy ground for a period of approximately 60 minutes with short periods of jogging mixed in.
