Midnight Farm's Expansion Plans for 2013
Since Midnight Farm's opening in 2009 we have continued to grow by leaps and bounds. Each year we have added to our day services, our therapeutic riding program, the summer camps, and we are still growing! In 2010 we built a greenhouse which is used year round by our day services to produce vegetables and beautiful flowering baskets. In 2011 an old barn was renovated into what we lovingly call, The Pottery Barn. Class participants have made slab-roller pots, figurines made from molds, and even free form monsters (a big hit at Halloween). This past year we broke ground on a third residence which will not only provide a home for adults with disabilities but offer a walkout lower level for summer camps and an after-school program.
The Green Thumb Club~ The Green Thumb Club has class 5 days a week to prepare for the spring plant sale and summer garden. In 2012 we expanded our vegetable garden, added two large herb beds, and had a holiday succulent sale. Next year we will focus on sustainable herbs that we hope to sell to the public along with vegetables that can be preserved to eat year round.
